We were fortunate enough to acquire an original section of the rudder from a South African Airways Airbus A319 — a truly iconic piece of commercial aviation history.Our original vision was ambitious: to transform this remarkable aircraft component into a full desk. However, with the realities of time, space, and logistics, we made a conscious decision to take a different — and arguably more meaningful — approach.Rather than creating a single large piece for one owner, we chose to carefully engrave and cut the rudder into individually crafted ornaments, allowing hundreds of people to own and enjoy a genuine piece of this aircraft’s story.Each ornament retains the authentic aircraft-grade aluminium, natural patina, and unmistakable character earned through years of service in the skies. Precision laser engraving highlights the aircraft’s heritage, ensuring that every piece is not just decorative, but a true aviation artefact.This approach lets us honour the aircraft’s legacy while making aviation history accessible, collectible, and personal — whether displayed on a desk, shelf, or gifted to a fellow aviation enthusiast.No two pieces are identical.
